VoIP over the internet, also known as internet telephony or voice over IP (VoIP), is a technology that allows users to make and receive phone calls over the internet instead of using traditional phone lines. VoIP works by converting analog voice signals into digital data that can be transmitted over the internet. This data is then converted back into an analog signal at the receiving end, so that the call can be heard through a regular telephone or other audio device.
VoIP has several advantages over traditional phone service. First, it is often much cheaper, especially for long-distance calls. Second, VoIP is more flexible, as it can be used with a variety of devices, including computers, smartphones, and VoIP phones. Third, VoIP offers a number of features that are not available with traditional phone service, such as call forwarding, caller ID, and voicemail.
